What is Cryptography?

Cryptography is a way of sending secure encrypted messages in an unreadable format. While it has been used in many ways over the years in today’s “computer central world” most cryptography is based around text and mathematical theory and then converted into cipher text (hidden messages) that you need a key to decrypt or unlock. Cryptography is used to protect sensitive information, prevent theft and also authenticate users. This technology is used in bank level encryption, email, credit cards, corporate data, computer passwords, e-commerce and more.
